What is a Dental Appliance?

When you think of what's needed to maintain good oral health, you may immediately list brushing and flossing. While those are key, we can do much more to keep our teeth safe.

Those of us who clench or grind our teeth, snore or play sports may find dental appliances useful to help protect and preserve our oral structures, in addition to the health of our entire bodies.

At Bay Dental Group, we offer dental appliances such as mouth guards and sleep apnea devices to help improve and protect the health of your mouth.

Snoring & Sleep Apnea Appliances

Your overall health and well-being can be negatively impacted by sleep disorders that disrupt your rest.

In patients who snore, their throat tissues relax and cause a restriction in the airway, producing the sound we all recognize as snoring when oxygen is forced past. Patients with sleep apnea will experience an over-relaxation of throat tissues that obstruct the airway. This forces the brain to wake them up to breathe.

At Bay Dental Group, we offer custom-fitted oral appliances to shift the tongue muscles and lower jaw to open the airway. This helps improve airflow and prevents you from waking throughout the night.

Custom-Fitted Mouth Guards

Custom-made mouth guards fit over your teeth to protect them from damage.

Sports Guards

If you are hit in the mouth during a sports activity, a mouth guard can act as a barrier between your teeth and the soft tissue in your mouth to protect your smile.

Night Guards

Do you grind your teeth during sleep? A mouth guard can help protect your teeth from damage. If jaw clenching is an issue, a mouth guard can prevent you from clenching and alleviate pain.
